Your privacy matters to us. This page explains how we handle information when you visit our website or get in touch. We respect your rights under Australian privacy laws that apply to our work.
When you get in touch
We use the details you share—such as your name, contact details and message—to answer questions, arrange services and manage our work with you. Please only share what's needed, especially when it involves children or other people. You can enquire anonymously or use another name where practical, although we may need more information to help.
We don't currently have a mailing list, and an enquiry won't subscribe you to one.
Using this website
Your browser remembers your contrast preference and whether you've seen the play instructions. You can clear these settings in your browser. Hosting providers may also process technical details, such as your IP address and pages visited, to deliver and protect the site.
We use Google Fonts and Adobe Fonts, which receive information such as your IP address when fonts load. Our email uses Microsoft Outlook. These providers, and external sites you choose to visit, have their own privacy policies.
Photos and removal requests
We aim to share photos respectfully and consider children's wishes. Permissions are recorded directly and through partner organisations. Permission to appear here doesn't allow others to reuse a photo; see our Terms of use.
If you're uncomfortable with a photo of yourself on this website, please ask us to remove it. Parents and guardians can also ask on behalf of their child, even if permission was previously given. You don't need to explain your discomfort.
Email thewaytheyplay@outlook.com with the page link and enough detail to identify the photo and person. Let us know about any urgent safety concern. Please don't send identity documents unless we ask for necessary verification.
We'll handle your request sensitively, prioritise safety concerns and arrange removal as soon as reasonably practicable once identified. We may need to clarify a few details. We can't guarantee removal of copies held by search engines or other people.
Looking after your information
Information may be shared with website, email and administration providers, relevant project partners or advisers when needed for our work, with your permission, or where the law allows or requires it. Some providers process information overseas; locations depend on the service. Contact us for details. We'll meet any overseas disclosure obligations that apply.
We take reasonable steps to keep information secure and delete or de-identify it when it's no longer needed, subject to legal recordkeeping and dispute requirements. No online system is completely secure.
Questions or concerns?
Email Renae at thewaytheyplay@outlook.com to ask about your information, request access or a correction, or make a privacy complaint. We may need to verify your identity and will explain if we can't fulfil a request.
We aim to respond to complaints within 30 days and will keep you updated if we need longer. If you're unhappy with our response or haven't heard back, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner can explain whether it can consider your complaint.
We'll update this page when our practices change. The date above shows the latest version.
